Turn off Push, open Live, hold shift on Push and turn it on, continue to hold shift and follow the update instructions on screen, once you see the receiving sysex message on Push you can let go of shift, once completed follow the prompt and restart live. Perhaps Ableton has improved on the warranty front as I have a Push 2 that I bought secondhand and it was well out of warranty. I had unresponsive pads and I got in touch with Ableton support and after doing some diagnostic stuff, they charged me a very reasonable cost to replace it (including international shipping) with a refurbished unit that appears new and works perfectly. The original adapter for Push 1 that I got directly from Ableton is 6V 1000ma 6W, model GPE053A-060100-Z (Golden Profits Electronics LTD). Isn't the one you have a switching mode supply?
